I’ve collected my favorite life quotes, images and tips and updated for 2018. Life can be a bumpy journey with many struggles. How you view significant events and people during your life is often a reflection of your internal mindset. With a positive and strong viewpoint, life can be fantastic with all challenges winnable. With a negative view, life can be filled with pain and suffering that friends and family may not be able to console you on.

Remember that life and time with move with or without you. It’s OK to stay still from time to time to collect your thoughts and re-evaluate your decisions. However if you want to grow and progress, you’ll have to keep moving forward, even if that means often facing uncomfortable situations.

2. Believe in your worth.

life quotes - Vincent van Gogh “If I am worth anything later, I am worth something now. For wheat is wheat, even if people think it is a grass in the beginning.”

You are worthy:

You have intrinsic value and were meant to be here. While life can feel overwhelming at times, remember that you are often given the tools and resources to overcome any obstacle that comes your way. 3. Take care of your parents.

life quotes - "Love your parents. We are so busy growing up, we often forget they are also growing old."

At the same time, you shouldn’t feel pressure to progress faster in life by comparing yourself to others. Move at your own pace and improve as you see fit.

9. You are in charge of your emotions.

People who love you, love you for you:

12. Love yourself

“Talk to yourself like you would to someone you love.” – Brené Brown

Sometimes we can be incredibly hard on ourselves because we were brought up that way by our parents. I think most of us are harder on ourselves than others, and most of us would never talk to someone else the way we talk to ourselves internally. If we can be kinder to ourselves, that will then extend to how we treat other people in our lives.

Here is an absolutely amazing TED Talk from Brene Brown. It is also one of the most viewed TED Talks to date on the power of vulnerability.

13. Prioritize your life carefully

“If you correct your mind, the rest of your life will fall into place.” – Lao Tzu

In life we’re given a large number of options and are often overwhelmed with the possibilities. If we can prioritize correctly, whether it be our mental health, physical health, time or financial allocation then we can be more efficient and hopefully happier. If you have the right mindset in life then everything else will follow.

14. Create your own future

15. Be present and worry less

“Worrying does not take away tomorrow’s troubles. It takes away today’s peace.” – Randy Armstrong

Worry and anxiety can have a detrimental effect on your life. If we can learn to be mindful and present throughout the day we can be more productive and happier. Take action to release yourself of worry because just thinking about something will often not solve it.

16. Follow your passions

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.” – Steve Jobs

It’s easy to fall into the trap of people pleasing whether it be your parents, close friends, boss, or significant other. Remember that you have this one life to live, so live it freely so that one day you don’t hold others in resentment or regret in your heart. It’s OK to follow your dreams responsibly and spend time on your passions.

You can immediately change how you view the world at any time. Whether or not an event is good or bad is often subjective and is up to you to decide. 35. Let go of your regrets

life quotes - joseph campbell “We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us.”

36. YOLO

life quotes - mae west “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”

45. Be honest

life quotes - Stephanie Klein “Tell the truth, or someone will tell it for you.”

46. Life’s short and sweet

life quotes - Emily Dickinson “That it will never come again is what makes life so sweet.”

“That it will never come again is what makes life so sweet.” – Emily Dickinson

47. Start fresh each day of your life

“The sun is new each day.” — Heraclitus

No matter what happens in the past, we get a new chance to start anew each day. Even if you can’t immediate change your circumstances, you can always change your mindset and move in a new direction. With everyday comes new opportunities to make better friendships, experiences, and memories.

48. Start your day happily

“Smile in the mirror. Do that every morning and you’ll start to see a big difference in your life.” — Yoko Ono

How you start your mornings will be a good indicator of how the rest of your day will follow. Try to start with a positive mindset and like that carry you gracefully throughout your day. You can start small with some morning routines such as smiling or listening to an upbeat song.

49. Reflect every now and then

“For the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: ‘If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?’ And whenever the answer has been ‘No’ for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.” – Steve Jobs

Take inventory of your current state of wellness. Are you happy with the people in your life right now? Are you happy with your current career or passions right now? If not, then would a change of mindset or environment bring you more peace and joy in your life?

50. Live to the fullest

“Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live.” – Norman Cousins

51. Rise from your losses

“There is no better than adversity. Every defeat, every heartbreak, every loss, contains its own seed, its own lesson on how to improve your performance the next time.” – Malcolm X

With every loss comes a lesson to be learned. Remember that life is long and you’ll have plenty of new chances and challenges to redeem yourself. If you wallow in defeat though then you may never get a chance to win again.

52. Love is everything

“Love is all you need.” – The Beatles

The Beatles got it right with this amazing song. Love can come in many forms, it can be love for a pet, love between friends, love with a partner, or love for your family. Fill your life with love because it may be the only thing worthwhile we can hold onto.

53. Don’t compromise on yourself

“It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not.” – André Gide

It’s better to be true to yourself and have a few friends than to be fake to the world for many acquaintances. Don’t pretend to be someone else just to fit into a group. The ability to be yourself is a wonderful chance that shouldn’t be wasted.

54. Treasure friends that stand by you

“A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out.” – Walter Winchell

55. Life quote about friendships

“Do I not destroy my enemies when I make them my friends?” – Abraham Lincoln

With the advances of technology, we have most of our necessities taken care of. Food and shelter are often affordable, and we now focus on additional luxuries such as vacation and material upgrades. Remember that most of our happiness will likely come from the simple things like good food, Netflix, and the company of our friends and family.

59. Cherish the small moments

“We do not remember days, we remember moments.” – Cesare Pavese

People will never forget the special moments in their lives such as their first kiss, their first friend, their first love. 62. Tomorrow isn’t promised

“The truth is you don’t know what is going to happen tomorrow. Life is a crazy ride, and nothing is guaranteed.” – Eminem

63. Just start walking

“If you don’t know where you’re going, any road’ll take you there” – George Harrison

Don’t become paralyzed with too many options. If we just move forward and try to do a little better everyday, then life will often reveal a decent path for us. Don’t over worry if you don’t have your destination chosen yet because life is a journey.

64. Start learning

“This life’s hard, but it’s harder if you’re stupid.” – George V. Higgins

65. Have faith in people

“If you trust, you will be disappointed occasionally, but if you mistrust, you will be miserable all the time.” – Abraham Lincoln

66. Don’t over-plan your life

“A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent on arriving.” – Lao Tzu

Try not to over plan your life. If you plan too far in the future you will cause yourself a lot of anxiety when things don’t go as planned. Another reason to have flexible plans are to increase spontaneity and reactivity to your life. Remember that most days won’t go exactly as planned so be prepared to adjust.

We are in control of the decisions we make and how we choose to approach life however. Remember that a “bad hand” is often a winning hand given to the right player.

68. Life quote about being thankful

“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough” – Oprah Winfrey

Expectations are often the cause of our unhappiness. If we can be more grateful for what we have and less focused on what we want or don’t have then we can be more at peace. It’s great to have goals and that doesn’t mean you can’t also be thankful for what you’ve already achieved.

69. Love a little more

“You may be hurt if you love too much, but you will live in misery if you love too little.” – Napoleon Hill

Most of the knowledge that we seek are in other peoples heads. If were able to ask the right questions to the right people and fully listen then we’ll likely find the answers we’ve been searching for. Listening well will also make you a more caring and compassionate person as you better understand people.

75. You can’t control tomorrow or the past

“Yesterday’s just a memory, tomorrow is never what it’s supposed to be.” – Bob Dylan

You can’t change the past or fully control the future. Appreciate the present moment that you have so that it doesn’t become an unwanted memory and take actions towards a fulfilling future.

76. Bring others joy

“The noblest art is that of making others happy.” – P.T. Barnum

We don’t know what our purpose is and there is a good chance that comforting and making each other happy is the best thing we can do with our time. It takes skill, consideration and time to bring happiness to others.

77. Life is short

“Life is short, and it is here to be lived.” – Kate Winslet

Our time here is very limited. Make the most out of each day in your life so that you don’t leave regrets when it’s your time to go. Tell your loved ones they are important to you and treat them as best you can.

78. Our thoughts control our world

“The soul becomes dyed with the color of its thoughts” – Marcus Aurelius

What we think will slowly become who we are through our behavior. If we are manipulative or negative in our thoughts then those bad tendencies will bleed over into our realities. Remember that the mind is fertile ground where ideas quickly take root and grow – both good and bad.

79. Don’t seek approval

“Don’t let your happiness depend on something you may lose.” – C.S. Lewis

If you constantly look towards other for approval and happiness then it may turn into resentment when you don’t get what you expect. Find happiness from within and comfort in your daily life. We all have bad days and need a good anchor in ourselves to pull us through.

80. Only you can be you

“To thine own self be true.” – William Shakespeare

You only have this one life so why waste it being someone else? You may have to put up a front and be fake to your social circles, your job, perhaps even your family and relatives. You should, however, try your best to be true to yourself. Be aware of your strengths and weakness so that you can make the best decisions in life.

81. We’re lucky to be alive

“We are going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones. Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born. The potential people who could have been here in my place but who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Arabia. Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater poets than Keats, scientists greater than Newton. We know this because the set of possible people allowed by our DNA so massively exceeds the set of actual people. In the teeth of these stupefying odds it is you and I, in our ordinariness, that are here.We privileged few, who won the lottery of birth against all odds, how dare we whine at our inevitable return to that prior state from which the vast majority have never stirred?” –Richard Dawkins

The chances of us being alive and human are so low that we should be incredibly grateful everyday that were not something else. We could easily be a rock or speck of dust in the universe. Be thankful for this moment because you may never have it again.

82. Hunter S. Thompson on Life

“Hope rises and dreams flicker and die. Love plans for tomorrow and loneliness thinks of yesterday. Life is beautiful and living is pain.” – Hunter S. Thompson

Just an amazing quote on the duality of life from this crazy guy. Love him.

83. Don’t hesitate to love

“If you see beauty in something, don’t wait for others to agree.” – Sherihan Gamal

You don’t need to wait for approval or the crowd to agree with what you like. You are yourself and you can be comfortable with your own taste. Be real and sincere with what moves and motivates you.

84. Be ready to learn

“Nothing ever goes away until it has taught us what we need to know.” –  Pema Chödrön

Obstacles that we see in our way are often great guides of where we need to go and what we need to avoid. Take some comfort that the challenges in your life are there to teach and not hinder you.

When is the last time you learned something new unexpectedly?

85. Be careful with your words

“If your words are soft and sweet, they won’t be as hard to swallow if you have to eat them.” – Unknown
